Let's assume that you purchased a domain name for example yourname.com and want to use it with your profile space site.
First note that your signup package needs to have the custom domain feature before you can request to add a custom domain to your profile space site.
Follow the steps below to add your custom domain name.
STEPS
1. Go to your dashboard and click the Custom Domain submenu in Domains & URLs menu as seen in the screenshot below. There, he will get a option to send request for his custom domain yourname.com
2. Before sending the request, you will have to add CNAME record to your custom domain yourname.com from the domain registrar’s dashboard ( e.g Namecheap, godaddy etc..) where you purchased the domain name.
CNAME record is basically needed to point a custom domain i.e. yourname.com to your profile space site Path URL i.e. profilespace.com.ng/username so that your site can also be accessed via the custom domain yourname.com.
3. You will see the required CNAME record data in the table found in Domains & URLs > Custom Domains page of your Dashboard. See the Screenshot below.
4. Different domain registrar ( e.g Namecheap, Godaddy etc...) has different interface for adding CNAME record. If you cannot find the option to add CNAME record in your domain registrar's dashboard, then please contact the domain registrar's support. The support will help you to find it.
5. After adding CNAME record, it will take some time to complete DNS propagation of the custom domain yourname.com. It is said that it takes up to 72 hours to complete DNS propagation. But, generally the propagation is completed much quicker than that (few hours) .
You can visit this website (https://www.whatsmydns.net/)
to check if the DNS propagation of the custom domain yourname.com is
completed all over the world or not
6. Once the DNS propagation is completed, you can finally send request for the custom domain yourname.com. See screenshot below
7. Once your custom domain request is approved, you can visit your profile space site via the newly added custom domain instead of the Path URL of your site.
